Convened by Xu Zheng & William Yip, this panel aims to explore about the power of drama and theatre education in transforming rural village education in China. Xu, founder of Beijing Jheng Charitable Foundation, committed to the development of drama/theatre education in China. Yip is a veteran drama educator, educational drama programmes developer and theatre director with 26 years of experience working in a wide variety of applied theatre projects locally in China and internationally.

Over the past five years, we have witnessed first-hand the incredible impact that drama/theatre education projects have had on students, teachers, and school leaders in rural village schools in China. What was once seen as just performance arts is now being used to empower change in students and explore new pedagogies in teaching and learning. We believe: THEATRE, IS BEYOND THE STAGE.

The panel includes founders from foundations and private corporations who will share why they support charity projects in rural village schools and describe the changes they have witnessed. We'll also hear from the project manager from Teach for China about how they facilitated the understanding and support of drama/theatre education in their lobbying with school districts and school leaders. Finally, principals and local teachers, as well as teachers from Teach for China, will talk about the transformation of learning and teaching, as well as student-teacher relationships that they have experienced.

This panel discussion will be connected live with Cambridge China Education Forum at Cambridge University, UK. This promises to be an insightful and inspiring discussion with local and international audience.

本次专题研讨由著名导演、演员徐峥，联合戏剧教育家、戏剧导演叶逊谦召集。徐峥导演发起的北京臻爱公益基金会在过往三年多的时间，致力推动戏剧教育在中国的发展；叶逊谦导演在中国本地和国际上推动各种戏剧和教育项目，拥有 26 年的丰富经验。

在过去五年的工作里，我们亲眼目睹了乡村学校戏剧教育项目对学生、教师，甚至于学校领导产生的令人难以置信的影响。戏剧，曾经被视为仅仅是表演，现在成为了促进学生改变并探索新教学方法的媒介。我们相信：戏剧，不止于舞台。
 
这次专题研讨，将包括来自企业的赞助人，他们将分享为什么他们支持乡村学校的公益项目，并描述他们所见证的变化。我们还将听取美丽中国项目经理讲述，他们如何在游说教育主管部门和学校领导，促进他们对戏剧/戏剧教育的支持和理解。最后，乡村学校的校长和教师，以及美丽中国的老师将谈论他们亲身经历的教学方法以及师生关系的转变。
